Het Apple datacenter ?

De laatste weken waren er diverse nieuwe berichten over Apple en hun datacenter ontwikkeling. In juni werd bekend dat Apple een groot datacenter ging bouwen in North Carolina.

Apple Inc. (AAPL) has selected North Carolina as the location for a new data center and will invest more than $1 billion in the project over nine years, Gov. Bev Perdue announced today

Nu hebben ze ook een datacenter manager aangetrokken in de vorm van Olivier Sanche (ex-eBay). Olivier was bij eBay vooral betrokken bij de ‘groene’ initiatieven.

Personally, I think Olivier is the absolute right guy for Apple at the right time.  Coincidentally, I recently wrote this post about Greenpeace possibly targeting Apple Data Centers. There is no other person I can think of who could better prepare Apple for Greening the Data Center.  Olivier is one of the few data center managers who uses a Mac, and he craves the moment he can drop the blackberry and switch to the iPhone.

Industrie breed word verwacht dat Apple met deze datacenter omgeving in de Cloud computing zal stappen, met name voor hun Mac en iPhone lijn.

Apple staat bekend om hun innovatieve en onderscheidend vermogen. Misschien kunnen ze dit ook naar de datacenter markt brengen.

Het zou een welkome aanvulling zijn…
